How would you write a letter to get an acknowledgment of your donation?

Posted by admin on November 28th, 2009 and filed under donation | 2 Comments »

My company occasionally provides donations of our products. For tax purposes we need to have them acknowledge this donation. I’m trying to come up with a standard letter that would tell them "we’re happy to meet your needs with this donation" and get them to respond with an acknowledgment. I need more filler words. Any suggestions?

"We are happy to donate [list the items] to help with your work. Please be kind enough to sign and return the enclosed copy of this letter by way of acknowledging that you have received this donation. A stamped return address envelope is enclosed for your convenience."

Make sure to keep a copy of your letter so that in case the donee doesn’t return a receipt you will at least have some record of the gift. And, yes, do make sure that a STAMPED return address envelope is included. This will prompt the donee to return the receipt.

Who is willing to donate items to help young mothers?

Along with research in helping mothers make the right decisions who is really willing to help in donating items to help when I get my services started. I know it will be a nonprofit organization. But I want the young mothers to know there is still help available and caring people in the world. I want this not to just be in southcarolina but nation wide. If I can get enough people to partner with me and keep family together. So who would really help to donate items just curious. Diapers, Car Seats, Formula, Clothing, Day Care, ETC. Are you one that would?

We have a service like that here…….but before I donated anything, I needed information on their business practices, and their community message. I needed to make sure they were not backed by a religious organization, that would be preaching, or jamming literature down their throats, or by a Right To Life organization, that would do likewise. Perhaps you should post you Mission Statement as well………….you are bound to get more responses that way.

*no where have I expressed hate………..and I know there are many organizations out there that are backed by religious institutions, not just christian…funny, I never even mentioned christians specifically, you just assumed. I am simply stating as in the many communities I have lived in, many people are not religious and will not donate to a charity/organization that is. Nor a Right to Life, if they are Pro-Choice…….re-read what I wrote. As for your thumbs down, you know where you can stick that, as I could care less. I am still a good person, who supports many organizations and charities, just not religious ones who feel the need to include their "message." as it is not a message for everyone.

Hillary is staying in the race to collect enough money from donations to pay her debt?

Posted by admin on November 28th, 2009 and filed under money donations | 10 Comments »

at the same time her "supporters" are sending letters to Superdelegates threatening to vote for McCain if Obama is nominated

Why dont these active election participants, who are energized enough to write letters, vote and donate?

Is it because a stamp is almost as cheap as talk, and they want a voice, but dont want to pay for it or work for it?

Hillary is such an elitist that she’s sitting on a personal fortune of over $100 MILLION, yet she thinks she doesn’t have to pay her own debt for her failures. When Steve Forbes ran for Pres, he funded his own campaign, and didn’t ask other people to pay for it, even though he lost big time.
Hillary is looking for the ultimate hypocritical hand-out.

where to donate used clothes? Do you pick up donations from home?

Two of the best places are the Salvation Army or the Good Will. They have stores in just about any town in the country and they DO come out to your house to pick things up.

Any type of thrift store would also likely come and pick things up. I just like using the Salvation Army and Goodwill because I know the money they raise go to good causes.

Where can I go to get a furniture donation?

I have two little kids and no furniture at all. It was okay at first, but it’s been several months and it is starting to get to us! I can’t afford to buy furniture right now, so if you have a suggestion on where I can aquire donated furniture, please let me know. Thanks

Post an add on used item websites as many as you can stating that your in need and of what or sign up to your local freecycle and do the same. You may even want to contact a local church or thrift store and see if they have any programs for furniture either cheap or donated.

How do I track Goodwill donations for tax deduction purposes?

Posted by admin on November 28th, 2009 and filed under donations | 3 Comments »

I’ve never tracked Goodwill donations for tax deductions and I have no idea where to start…

What are the things I need to do?

First, take pictures of the items you are donating. The forms that Goodwill hands out are signed, blank forms. They don’t even look at what you are giving them. The IRS is starting to crack down on non-cash donations, so having proper proof is key.

Second, write down as many of the items as possible on the donation slips when you get them, or attach a list to the slip.

Generally, I take the "Thrift Store Value," which is the amount the store will be selling those gifts for. If possible, write down on your list that you attached to the slip about when you bought the items and how much you paid for them originally.

Finally, remember to get an address of where you dropped off the items.

You will need all of this to fill out form 8283 for non-cash donations as part of your tax return.

I have about 6 – 7 bags that need to be picked up. I just can’t manage it on my own in a cab… Any suggestions? I am also open to shipping the goods to a place that needs it like the flood or hurricane victims. Please let me know… just trying to help.

Try the VVA, the Vietnam Veterans. I live in Jersey and they pick up from my house. You can schedule it online.
