I’m going to donate money to a charity, and I’m looking for one that is really in need of a donation. please give me a website(: All answers are appreciated!
Look around your community. Look for local organizations that will use your generous donation to really help people, and not pay wages and benefits. Or buy food with your money and donate it to the food pantry or a soup kitchen. Buy blankets and give them to the homeless or buy new toothbrushes and hair brushes and donate them to the local domestic abuse shelter. The need is great; the opportunities are endless
What are some charities that really need donations?
How can a 501(c)(3) organization solicit donations for money and goods.?
I belong to a 501(c)(3) organization that needs to raise funds and obtain toys for our annual Christmas toys for elementary school children in low-income families.
Solicit businesses and individuals face to face, asking them to send their checks and things to a third party like a bank or a church.
how much donation to Goodwill should i give so i can put it on my income tax return?
Whatever you want to give. But it will only do you any good if you itemize. If you take the standard deduction you get nothing for charitable contributions.
The only thing though is that if you give cash you can only deduct up to 50% of your AGI and if there is any excess, it gets carried forward for future use, but has only a 5 year carryforward. If it’s non-cash contribution (i.e. clothing) you can deduct up to 50% (30% for gifts of appreciated property) of your AGI, and there is another form (form 8283) you need to fill out if you give more than $500 in non-cash contributions. Also, due to a recent change in the tax laws, the clothing has to be in "good" condition or better to be deductible. If the non-cash deduction is more than $5,000 a qualified appraisal of the items must be obtained, and if the deduction is more than $500,000 (that would be a lot of clothing!) the appraisal itself must be attached with the return.
CAn clothes donation be tax exempt? Where can i donate my unwanted clothes?
Yes, it’s tax exempt but you need to get and keep your receipt. The Salvation Army and Goodwill get so many donations that they throw away their abundance all the time. I prefer to give mine to places that get fewer donations–homeless shelters, places that help refugees, places that help the poor, etc. One of the best places I’ve found is the county psychiatric hospital. People are sometimes brought in off the street or don’t expect to be hospitalized and come in with only the clothes they’re wearing.
Salvation Army in my city…picks up donations of furniture and then….?
instead of putting most of it out on the floor of their thrift store for poor people to buy…they sell best pickings, when the truck comes in, to a lady running a second hand furniture store?
I just think its not right. I know they need to make money, but isnt that the point of running their thirft store. What do you think?
they just try to make money the fastest way they can then spend it on the people they help
it may not seem right the way they do it but it works for them to help as fast as they can
talk to them they will explain the way they work to help as best as they can
How should I drop off donations to a family in need without offending them?
I asked around for donations to a family with little kids who I know were having a hard time. I got an outpouring of support, and people gave a turkey, canned goods, toys for christmas, clothing, and gift cards. Great! The problem is, I never consulted the mom, and I don’t want to offend her. I had been planning to do a "drop and run", but there is too much valuable stuff to leave out front. How should I get this to her without offending her?
Just tell them what a special family they are and you want them to have the best.I think they’ll be so grateful that you’ve thought of them in this way and be relieved their children won’t starve.Well done you!
Job interview to collect door to door donations for reputable charity…any information?
I have a job interview for a reputable charity collecting donations and selling pens, greeting cards etc. and I was wondering if anyone had ever does this before, if they could tell me what it is like??? Im at uni full-time.
Most charities in the US do not use the door-to-door sales method of raising money, so I’d be wary of this offer. Sounds like a scam.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
