Where can i donate computer books to charity ?

Posted by admin on April 20th, 2010 and filed under donate | 5 Comments »

I’m looking for somewhere that I can donate about 20 books and get a receipt for tax purpose. I’d prefer it to be in the Morgan Hill/Gilroy Ca. area if possible.
I was hoping to give them to someone who might actually use them. I’ve also already likely maxed out my goodwill contributions already this year.

Simple answer…..Your county library… They are always looking for books..You can even have them put an "In Memory of" sticker inside the cover of the books, to honor someone[s] you have lost….
That’s what we do….good luck!

How do I donate my shoes to be thrown at President Bush during his next visit to a foreign country?

Posted by admin on April 18th, 2010 and filed under donate | 12 Comments »

Shouldn’t America HONOR the Iraqi man at the press conference who threw his shoes at President Bush. I want to donate a pair to the Iraqi so that his shoes may be replaced or he may use the new pair throw at President Bush’s head. Who else thinks we should throw a parade for the shoe-throwing Iraqi?

President Bush deserves to be thrown at shoes including with their socks. I was trying to donate my shoes at thrift store, so I changed my mind and If anyone is willing to help me ship my shoes to Iraq for Bush’s next visit I will be glad to assist you, just e-mial me. Even though Bush’s next visit to Iraq is unlikely due to the flying shoes loooooooooool.

How do I get people to donate anonymously to a shelter?

Posted by admin on April 16th, 2010 and filed under donate | 2 Comments »

I am wanting to collect items needed at a local women’s and children’s shelter in San Diego, CA. I intend to donate these items anonymously to the shelter once gathered. But I having trouble with ideas on how to get people to give the items so they can be donated and still be anonymous. Any help is appreciated. thanks guys!

Here are some things that have worked for us. Ask your church and/or other churches to put a notice in the bulletin askiog ppl to bring donations the next Sunday. This can also be done with any Sunday school class, school class, civic group, apartment building, workplace, etc. You need an OK from the leadership and a specific time frame for the donations to be made and a large cardboard box with a nice sigh. It’s a good idea if you are also present or have someone present at the drop off location so it doesn’t become a help yourself rather than a give situation. We have also arranged with the manager of a local store to be able to set up a table in front of the store with a box for donations. You want to give ppl some ideas what to donate like stuffed animals for sheletr kids, backpacks for shelter kids, shampoo and tolieteries for homeless women,, etc. You could also put on a concert, singing, show, sportong event etc and ask ppl to bring a stuffed animal or a can of food etc as the price of admission. Some groups haqve done car washes that way or to raise money and then bought the items to be donated. Another idea is doing something like The Great $1 Challenge http://caringhandsmin.tripod.com/id14.html

Generally the best way to get someone to do something is to come out and ask them. It will be helpful if you either get an organization to help sponsor the drive or let ppl know what specific shelter the things will go to. They can still be given anonomously. In most places you would not need any kind opf special licensing to do this but check with your local PD if you are going to make it a public drive like at the supermarket just to be sure.

How much can you donate to a candidate without having it show up in the public records?

Posted by admin on April 14th, 2010 and filed under donate | 2 Comments »

I want to donate to a political candidate, but I know that my employer and a lot of people where I work believe strongly in the other political party. I don’t want someone typing in my name and seeing I donated money to him. Is there a certain amount you can donate that won’t show up in the public record? During the 04 campaign I saw a few websites that showed to whom and how much people donated.

In an effort to keep campaign contributions honest and transparent, that information is ALL reported. Would it really affect your standing at work if your employer knew your political beliefs? It’s not as if you’re holding rallies in the office. Are you sure you want to work in a place that would hold that against you?

I want to donate my hair to a cancer patients’ association in the Philippines, how do i do it?

Posted by admin on April 10th, 2010 and filed under donate | 1 Comment »

..i saw Locks of love and other sites but they give the wigs for american and canadian patients only, i think. if i can’t find one for the Philippines, Africa or any other 3rd world country will do.
does anybody know where i can donate?

Contact the local Cancer Society or write to the St. Jude’s
Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee or call them, and they
can surely let you know what is best to do about that.
I send gifts of toys and often make a children’s quilt to
send to them.
They appreciate any kindness to the children and the
families. (Sincerely, Too Funny)
