i need a donation because the old people sit around always bored and got nothing to do because the budget is $74 a month.. when getting a performer it costs us $60 and where only left with $15. theres not much you can get with $15. we have no support at all and would like some… can i please get some help?
You don’t say where you are. The first step in asking for donations is to make sure people understanding what city, state and country in which you are located, what the physical address is of your organization, and a phone number and/or web address for more information. Without this, you won’t be getting any donations per your inquiries.
The second step is better defining the need: you say the budget is $74 a month. The budget for what? Do you mean the budget for entertainment? Why is the budget so small? Is the nursing home too cash-strapped for a bigger entertainment budget, or, is it negligent?
There are a lot of clubs and communities of faith (churches, mosques and temples) that would be happy to come to this home to provide free entertainment. Local schools may also be willing to come perform parts of whatever play they have put together, or the school’s speech and drama club may be willing to come perform some of its skits. Local dance schools may also be willing to stage a special performance, for free, for the residents. Singing, dance and skits are all available to you, depending on the size of your community, and all are free.
Many nursing homes have had great success with introducing the Wii to its residents. Have you considered visiting local electronics stores and seeing if they would be willing to donate a Wii, plus a person to provide training and technical support to the staff? You would have to provide a lot of information about your residents, and show them how you would ensure that only residents use the Wii — that it doesn’t end up at home with one of the staff or one of the residents’ family, for instance. Such a donation, and the adoption of its use by the residents, could generate a lot of interest among the media to do stories about how video games are helping residents.
When making requests for donations, don’t sound desperate — present it as a great opportunity for the club, school, organization or business to do some good, to give back to the community, and to have fun.
I’m doing a speech on Organ Donation so I wanted to find out how many people die each year from people not being organ donors, and I specifically wanted a link to a web site. So if somebody can help that would be way cool.
In 2004, 5,363 transplant candidates – one person every 90 minutes – died in the United States while awaiting transplantation. Right now, 17 people die every day waiting for a transplan

Thank you!!
There is a blood red circle
On the cold dark ground
And the rain is falling down
The church door’s thrown open
I can hear the organ’s song
But the congregation’s gone
My city of ruins
My city of ruins
Now the sweet bells of mercy
Drift through the evening trees
Young men on the corner
Like scattered leaves,
The boarded up windows,
The empty streets
While my brother’s down on his knees
My city of ruins
My city of ruins
Come on, rise up! Come on, rise up!
Come on, rise up! Come on, rise up!
Come on, rise up! Come on, rise up!
Now’s there’s tears on the pillow
Darlin’ where we slept
And you took my heart when you left
Without your sweet kiss
My soul is lost, my friend
Tell me how do I begin again?
My city’s in ruins
My city’s in ruins
Now with these hands,
With these hands,
With these hands,
I pray Lord
With these hands,
With these hands,
I pray for the strength, Lord
With these hands,
With these hands,
I pray for the faith, Lord
We pray for your love, Lord
We pray for the lost, Lord
We pray for this world, Lord
We pray for the strength, Lord
We pray for the strength, Lord
Come on
Come on
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up
Come on, rise up

What donation of money or time (through work) would be the most beneficial to change and better the lives of others? I would like to offer my resources to create an ongoing donation. I’m not really interested in helping people with addictions, because I don’t feel like I have the tools to deal with people in that situation.
It really depends on what you want to accomplish and the ways you think are adequate to get from here to there. Maybe it’s good to invest some time in doing a bit of reading, to help you determine what you think about the world, its problems and possible solutions. There are many viewpoints, and no easy answers.
Personally, I like grassroots, non-hierarchical organizations (like infoshops, or bike kitchens, or Food Not Bombs chapters), so I’m volunteering at a volunteer-run, non-profit, decision-by-consensus, radical bookstore, and I feel quite good for that. But other people feel more confortable with authority, and still can do very beneficial work.

I want to donate money but i need a good donation. I am worried about giving to organizations that wont really use the money i donate like they advertise i will. Also, is it good to donate over the internet with my credit card/debit card? Any insight is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
You should donate money to the senior class of Vasquez high school (Class of 2010). Im the president and i swear to you al the money im trying to come up with is going toward prom (which is already booked) On FantaSea Yachts. Our school is really small and really poor. Im doing the best i can to fund raise and give the seniors everything they deserve, If not our ACS club gives all there profit to the cancer society. The school is filled with great people always trying to help each other out.
My Eagle Scout is soliciting donations right now from companies. It’s for a non-profit. If companies pledge a donation in 2008, but it doesn’t get delivered until 2009, which tax year does the donation count for? Or can they choose?
It’s not money. It’s a donation of goods (building materials). I’m wondering if they can use it for 2008 if they PLEDGE in 2008, but deliver in 2009.
Only when they deliver on the pledge. Unless they make the payment before Dec 31, 2008 it’s a 2009 donation.
You should be very careful to NOT give any tax advice to your benefactors. Your only obligation is to notify them that your organization is a registered 501(c)3 charity, assuming of course that it is. If they have any questions on tax deductions, refer them to their tax adviser. This is very important because whether or not the donation will be deductible will depend upon a number of other factors, none of which you are qualified to assess.

We are having our first annual PTA sponsored walkathon this spring. I need to start soliciting donations right away. I’m not a very comfortable writer, so i’d like to find some sample donation solitiation letters to help me write it. We are going to be asking local (and out of area) businesses to donate items that can either be given away as prizes to the kids or auctioned off to the parents in a silent auction. I’ve never planned a walkathon before, so any help you can offer would be much appreciated. Thanks!
