Because it’s world blood donation day I figured I should show you the footage we shot when we went to donate blood in January.
It’s something Dean and I do every three months and Natalie from the communitychannel wanted to do a video about it (in relation to this campaign that would start there in February) and she had asked Dean to shoot it… Unfortunately, it kept being delayed because of the fire victims in Victoria, the blood donation campaign in Sydney was delayed, as they were flooded with people who wanted to help and they decided to try and help out instead of going through with the campaign…
Long story short: Nat said I could go ahead and post it and didn’t have to wait for her posting it first, so you guys get the scoop!

I just donated …
I just donated blood today so far this is my 2nd time donating. I Passed out the 1st time and today I almost passed out so Im not gonna try for a 3rd time. But its not that bad. If you can with out passing out go donate blood.

Blood doesn’t …
Blood doesn’t bother me . . . . but needles horrify me and so does pain. I’ve donated 7 pints of whole blood, one douple unit of red cells, and over 20 units of platelets and counting.
Its my way of giving a gift to the world and showing my appreciation for life itself. I believe life is a miracle and if only everyone would offer gifts to their fellow people the world would be a better place.

I donate platelets, because I donate platelets I can give every 2 weeks. the only thing that sucks is it takes 45+ mins to donate, and I am eligible to give a double donation so its like 60-90 mins with a needle in your arm. I think its pretty standard to get cookies and juice because you need the sugar after donating.

In the Netherlands we get stuffed with drinks and cookies 2!!! Be a blooddonor you guys, it takes no time at all and you help a bunch of people!

Yeah I have never seen any blood come out like that. I have gotten my blood taken like 5-6 times and never had blood run down my arm like that.

that’s terrible! i can’t believe blood came out when they introduced the canula! i’m from México, i’ve donnated lots of times and never NEVER had i seen that stream of blood come out! but it is important you plug for blood donnors. a journalist once wrote: if you’re willing to spill your blood for your country, give a pint.

Giving blood is one of the most important gifts you can give to someone else! Blood donations save SO many lives, and it really DOES make you feel good.
Do you have the option of donating the double red cells there?

I haven’t, nor will I ever donate blood. I’m not keen on needles and I am squeamish too.
There is a local blood donation vehicles which comes by work every few months, and alot of the women donate blood. There you go guys, donate blood to pull chicks!
