A Singaporean is doubtful of these aunties she saw seeking donations in shopping areas, and wonders if they are working for a real charity.

She took these photos on February 13, after following the aunties for hours.

She said:

“I find that the way that the aunties seeking donations is weird, shady or dubious.

“Are charities allowed to seek donations all year round?

“These few aunties have been spotted along Orchard Road seeking donations since october 2008 — in front of Shaw, Tangs, Paragon.

“From what I know, permit is required and permit is usually for few days in a year.

“They are using pledge cards — are pledge cards allowed for street donations?

“I dont’t think so…the name of the charity starts with muh?

“I have seen people who have donated without writing anything on the pledge cards and the aunties stuff the money into their bags.

“Do they hand in all the money that they have collected to the charity at the end of the day?

“What if they pocket the donation?

“And shouldn’t the money be placed in tin cans or a secured bag?

“When I took their photos, they would stop and walk away. Why?

“Are they doing something wrong?

“I saw one of them in front of one of the shopping malls.

“I was looking at her when she was asking people to donate when the traffic light was red.

“I was waiting to cross the road and she asked me what I was looking at.

“Then she walked away — into the shopping mall…shady?

“I have taken part in the Yellow Ribbon’s and other donation drives before (usually only once a year and only one drive per charity).

“I have no problem with people looking at me or taking my photos.

“If you look at me when I am holding a donation tin, I will be very happy to walk over and ask you to please donate more — I am happy even if you drop ten cents into my tin.”

answer ; ncss reply that pledge card is not allowed for street collection.
tin cans and secured bags are usually use to prevent ppl from pocketing the money.

Become an Open Arms Partner Parent by sponsoring a child through Open Arms International (OAI), a non-profit charity organization.

1. Sponsor an individual child for $55 per month. 2. Sponsor a portion of the street children feeding program for $30 per month. 3. Sponsor a child in a family to get an education for $30 per month.
Sponsoring a child is a very serious commitment. If you choose to sponsor an individual child for $55 per month, you are committing to be a sponsor for the life of that child (until age 18 or 19). If you cannot make a serious commitment, consider sponsoring a street child through our feeding program or sponsoring a child in a family to get an education.

Open Arms International is an international humanitarian relief and development organization dedicated to raising children in Africa and India orphaned by AIDS, civil warfare, disease or other tragedy to reach their full potential. OAI also works with families and their communities ravaged by poverty, disease and injustice so that they might have hope for a brighter future. OAI serves all people, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, tribe or gender. OAI was founded in 2003 and is headquartered in Portland, Oregon with affiliate offices in Manchester, England and Eldoret, Kenya. The organization currently serves in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Mozambique and India.

Our mission is to provide relief from physical, emotional, and spiritual suffering through medical expertise and Christian ministry.

Watch this video if you are interested in: sponsor a child, sponsoring a child, world hunger, world poverty, international charity, humanitarian aid, humanitarian relief, African charities, African donations, non profit charitable organizations, charities, donations, third world poverty, 3rd world poverty, Christian charitable giving.

It is impossible to be immune from the news of these challenging times we live in today. So often we feel unsettled and uncertain. For many that can’t eat today and that have no home or family, this is the everyday uncertainty facing abandoned children http://childrenswishlist.wordpress.com
CHILDRENS WISH LIST FOUNDATION® goal is to provide Child Sponsorship, where we not only address the physical and educational needs of a child, but also contribute to family permanency, allowing children to stay with their families in the country in which they were born. The further we
reach the more likely it is that a child begins the long climb out of poverty toward a more hopeful future. Please help by sharing our mission with loved ones and your community. Families need your help to survive. We need your help to provide the tools, and they will be able to flourish. http://www.CWLF.org
