a song i wrote in 2005.
dedicated to the hundreds of thousands in our country suffering at the moment.
240+ lives lost, many missing, 400,000+ individuals displaced. another storm is brewing in the pacific that may hit this coming thursday. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090929/ts_nm/us_philippines_typhoon
there are a couple of ways to help!
quickest way imo is thru monetary donations
http://www.redcross.org.ph/Site/PNRC/Default.aspx?S=48&SS=972
select “typhoon ondoy” from the dropdown menu (about 47 pesos = $1)
Red Cross also provides other ways to give:
http://www.redcross.org.ph/Site/PNRC/wtd.aspx
their government is making it extremely difficult for in-kind donations. Island Pacific supermarkets are accepting donations at these NorCal & SoCal locations:
http://www.islandpacificmarket.com/socal_locales.htm
lots of ways provided by google:
http://www.google.com/landing/typhoon-ondoy.html
even SMS text messaging!
http://www.xoom.com/philippines
enter coupon code HELPONDOY for free money transfer donation to PNRC. Valid til Fri, Oct9 2009.

LYRICS-
MY SOLDIER (c) 2005 AJ RAFAEL
VERSE
When you’re feeling sad and blue, don’t you know that I will always,
Be here for you.
When everything just makes us go out of our minds, just know that I will always,
Have the time for you.
You say that I am your influence. You should know that you inspire me.
Now until the end.
I’ll help you get through the thick and thin and I know you’ll remember when.
I say.
CHORUS
You are strong, strong as a soldier. Even when winds are tough you’ll always keep it together. You are strong, strong as a soldier. I know you’ll get through anything. ‘Cause you’re strong, strong, strong as a soldier.
VERSE
When the waves are crashing down. Can’t get up. Just know I’ll,
Pick you up from the ground.
When it feels like everything goes wrong, just remember to listen to this song.
CHORUS
You are strong, strong as a soldier. Even when winds are tough you’ll always keep it together. You are strong, strong as a soldier. I know you’ll get through anything. ‘Cause you’re strong, strong, strong as a soldier.
BRIDGE
Don’t you worry about the obsticles to your happiness. If you let them get to you, you’ll end up just like the rest. I know you’re better than those people who get in the way. Just remember what I always say.
CHORUS
You are strong, strong as a soldier. Even when winds are tough you’ll always keep it together. You are strong, strong as a soldier. I know you’ll get through anything. ‘Cause you’re strong, strong, strong as a soldier. You are are strong, strong, strong as a soldier. Strong, strong, strong as a soldier.

In this video I have included Manny Pacquiao recent victory over Cotto in this video as it was a inspiring moment for The Philippines. In a time of struggle, Pacquiao dedicated his fight to the victims of Ondoy and Pepeng and by his word, delivered a TKO victory aswell as donating a million pesos to charity.
The moving speech played during the last sequence of the video was the words of Efren Penaflorida, the recently announced CNN Hero of the Year 2009. His speech and his accomplishments inspired many Filipinos worldwide. He is a global icon across the globe for his efforts in helping the Filipino community with his teachings.

The typhoon brought almost a month-worth of rainfall in Metro Manila for a duration of six hours the highest recorded rainfall in the area in 42 years. It brought streets of Metro Manila underwater mostly in waist-deep flood but it was reported to have reached up to five meters in some areas.
